About the application:

Bombman is an action-maze mini game where users take control of the diferent heroes with the main objective of destroying all of the creatures filling the playfield by placing bombs. Beating all the creatures will begin a level's gate and lead users to the next area. Bombman follows the same video test formula as its predecessors in that the goal is to use bombs that explode in a cross pattern to conquer all the opponents and search the exit warp hidden underneath soft blocks within a time limit to clear each scene. Bombman can move with the D-Pad and put bombs using Ⅰ. He begins a fresh mini game with only one bomb and a one-tile blast radius, but one power-up item can be found hidden underneath a soft block in each scene. When all opponents are defeated, the soft block containing the item will flash to reveal its place, but not the one containing the exit. If the user bombs an item or the exit, 8 opponents will spawn from it (the item will be destroyed, but the exit is indestructible). If the user runs out of time during a scene, all remaining opponents will disappear and 12 Pontans will be spawned. The mini game has a total of 8 rounds with 8 stages each, for a total of 64 stages. The final scene of each round features a boss war in which the user must study the boss' attack patterns and use multiple bombs to conquer it. The user has three continues to beat the mini game, and mini game progress can be saved via password or directly to memory (up to three save files) after a Mini game Over. The mini game also contains a War mode for up to 5 users. The goal is to conquer the another users with bombs (all users begin each round with one bomb and a two-tile blast radius) and be the latest user standing, winning a set number of victories to victory the match. If time runs out, all surviving users are killed and the round is declared a draw. This mini game has no help for computer-controlled users, but if there are less than 5 users participating, then the scene will also feature opponents. Only Bomb Ups and Fire Ups can be found in soft blocks, though Skulls can also be found if Skull Mode is chosen during setup. There is also a dedicated War mode for two users.
