The idea is that thoughts about a situation affect how we feel, both emotionally and physically, and how we behave. Therefore, CBT teaches fresh methods or modified methods of thinking and behaving about a situation. According to Anxiety BC, CBT is one of the most effective treatments for anxiety and another illnesses such as depression, chronic pain, eating disorders, anger problems, addiction and low self-esteem.
