About the application:

Kenya has about 8% of its land mass designated as a protected place for wildlife conservation. Protected places are surveyed, delineated, and gazetted landscapes/seascapes that have been designated as National Parks and/or National Reserves. Protected places in Kenya cover a wide range of environments, including forests, wetlands, savannah, maritime, dry, and semi-arid. There are over 20 national mini game reserves .Outside of the protected zones, KWS administers over a hundred field stations/outposts. Human activities, are permitted in reserves under certain conditions .Fishing in maritime reserves or firewood collection in terrestrial reserves are examples of these activities. It's worth noting that much of Kenya's wildlife lives outside of protected places. This is due to the fact that most protected places aren't fully fenced, so wildlife moves in and out of them in find of pasture and water at various times of the year. When they leave the protected zones, they come into contact with people on personal and community land, resulting in human-animal conflict. As a effect, the KWS must adopt a strategic cooperation with wildlife-affected communities.
