Rooply is a word mini game with a twist that will receive you hooked from the beginning. It is a excellent mini game for word enthusiasts who are looking for a fresh experience. This isn't other crossword puzzle, instead it is an entirely fresh approach that will hold you wanting more. In Rooply the board is not preset and users can use any word they select. Although a user can play individually, the mini game can also be played by two to four players. Gameplay Players take turns to roll the dice. Once the user rolls the dice they will receive a play, for example: 4 letters horizontally (vertically or diagonally) 3 black squares. This means that the user has to put a four letter word in a horizontal position on the board. The user also got three black squares (which is the maximum he/she can receive in each play) to put on the board or exchange for a yellow square. Users can exchange two black squares per one yellow square. The yellow squares are multifunctional squares (explained below) that let the user to create plays that will be invalid without the yellow square. Also the mini game will let users to acquire 7 yellow squares per user at the novice level, 10 at the intermediate level and 14 at the master level. The user can also change the word's direction. Instead of writing the word from left to right or top to bottom they can write it from right to left or bottom to top. Each user begins with two wildcards. The wild cards let the user to choose the word's orientation and length. Using the wildcards, the user can choose the amount of black squares rather than being assigned black squares. The goal of the mini game is to complete the board before the another users. Each user has 60 seconds to complete their turn (users can change this to 30 seconds per turn). The remaining number of seconds from a turn is added to the player's total score. The scoring is based on six factors: 1. Time 2. Black squares on the board 3. Letters on the board 4. Letters on crossing words 5. Number of yellow squares still in the bank after completing the board 6. Number of wild cards still in the bank after completing the board Example: In a 60 second mini game, the user territories on the board a seven letter word and three black squares in 12 seconds. The score for that play would be (48+7) - 3 = 52. If the user crossed that seven letter word with other already on the board, then the letter that the two words have in common is worth 2 points instead of one. The score would then be (48+7+1) - 3 = 53. If, when the mini game comes to an end, the user still has four yellow squares in their bank, then one point for each yellow square will be deducted from the final score. Likewise, if the user ends the mini game with an unused wildcard, ten points will be added to the final score. In this case the total score would be: (Final score + 10) – 4 Yellow square multi-functionality: The yellow square can function as an begin, blank, and black square all at the same time. One, two or three sides of a yellow square should be functioning as a black square while the remaining one, two or three function as a blank square. This yellow square property allows the user to create plays that otherwise will be invalid.
