PNW Moths is an interactive identification key to the more than 1,200 moth species featured on the Pacific Northwest Moths site (pnwmoths.biol.wwu.edu). Designed for people with no prior knowledge of moth identification, the key narrows the list of possible species in response to responses players give to easy-to-understand questions about seasonality, place, size, and color patterns. PNW Moths has images of all of the species known from the region in the families Drepanidae, Uraniidae, Lasiocampidae, Saturniidae, Sphingidae, Notodontidae, Erebidae, Euteliidae, Nolidae, and Noctuidae, and is updated regularly in response to fresh discoveries. PNW Moths allows players to record info and images from moth observations to their mobile device and upload their observations to the PNW Moths apk server, making it a terrific resource for students, educators, naturalists, and anyone else interested in identifying moths in this region.
